This community consists of 69 single-family coastal plantation-style homes located in the heart of coastal Encinitas.
Project Challenge and Solution
The project fronts a highly traveled road in a tight-knit community. There were many different opinions between the city and community concerning the access path fronting the project. This area needed to include water quality treatment of a heavily traveled road. The solution was an aesthetically pleasing decomposed granite path with a landscaped bio-filtration swale.
Each of the lots required on-lot water quality treatment. This often is unsightly and expensive. H&A worked closely with the city and the landscape architect to provide organically shaped bio-filtration basins using small natural-looking blocks and plantings.
