Project Challenges & Smart Solutions
A major engineering challenge involved the site’s location within a historic floodplain. To avoid the long-term financial burden of flood insurance for residents, Hunsaker & Associates developed a cost-effective solution: raising the entire site by three feet. This strategic move not only brought the project into compliance with FEMA regulations but also eliminated the need for flood insurance, significantly reducing long-term housing costs.
Additionally, our team designed multiple stormwater basins to ensure water quality compliance, while still preserving valuable open space and recreational areas.
